The Integrated Global Greenhouse Gas Information System (IG3IS) is an initiative of the Global Atmospheric Watch (GAW) Programme of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) that focuses on the development of an innovative service to support GHG emissions management. In the IG3IS approach, atmospheric observations are integrated with activity-based GHG emissions estimation in a modelling framework that allows for improved timeliness and quality of emission estimates. The approach is applicable to decision-relevant scales (from facility to urban to National). On the national scale the approach can complement traditional inventories that are used for reporting to the United Nation Framework on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and planning of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC).
